Silicone Materials

Silicone Sex Toys

The uncontested best material for vibrators (and all sex toys, for that matter) is silicone. It is, quite simply, the cashmere of sex toy materials. Exquisitely textured and remarkably life-like, silicone warms up quickly and retains body heat very well. Of course silicone vibrators also come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes.  There's anything from the sleek Gigolo Vibe with its smooth, avant-garde stylings, to the fancifully ridged Twister vibe that will add a wavy sensation to the spread of vibration.  Not enough? Silicone sex toys are also by far the easiest to clean. Because of its non-porous nature, silicone cleans up with ease with mild soap and warm water. Silicone toys are also the only sex toys that can be completely sterilized and hence shared - the material even withstands boiling! Finally, some women have allergic reactions to the latex rubber sex toys (the same material used in condoms); silicone vibrators, on the other hand, very rarely cause any irritation.

So why aren't all vibrators made of silicone? Cost has something do to with it. When you're out buying a vibrator, check out the prices of the silicone models. They're generally $20-$30 more than the other models on the shelf. Every silicone toy out there is cast in a mold by a real human being. No machines here folks - making silicone vibrators is a real art and you'll pay for it. Overall, silicone can't be beat. As Ferris Bueller said, "If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."

N.B. Many women express concern over silicone dildos, worried that it presents the same potentially toxic danger as silicone breast implants. While related, the two materials are very different; the silicone rubber used in vibrators is solid and cannot potentially leak into the body.
